Advisory and methodological assistance to the authorities and the population of Armyansk city, Republic of Crimea

In September-October 2018, specialists of the Federal Budgetary Scientific Institution “Federal Research Center for Medical and Preventive Health Risk Management Technologies” of Rospotrebnadzor were engaged as experts to study the situation in the northern part of the Crimea peninsula. The purpose of the work was to identify, quantify and prove the presence or absence of a relationship between children's health disorders and exposure to chemical factors in the zone of influence of enterprises producing titanium dioxide and sulfuric acid. The main sources of medical information were the results of general clinical examination with the definition of somatic status. The practical way out was to develop an action plan for territorial bodies and organizations of Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea and the city of federal significance Sevastopol to minimize the risk to the health of the child population living in risk areas. In connection with the situation caused by air pollution in the urban district of Armyansk city of the Republic of Crimea by evaporation of acid accumulator of OOO “Titanovye Investitsii”, the specialists of the Federal Research Center for Medical and Preventive Health Risk Management Technologies traveled to the scene. The state of health of the population, including children, in the contaminated area was assessed during the trip, as well as remotely, based on the collected data and the submitted materials. In order to promptly and effectively rehabilitate the population affected by pollution, as well as to normalize the sanitary and epidemiological situation of the territory, the specialists of the Federal Research Center for Medical and Preventive Health Risk Management Technologies provided the advisory and methodological assistance to the authorities and the population of Armyansk city.
