Lecture Series as Part of an International Project

Mark R. Prauznitsa, Professor of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), is giving a series of lectures as part of the international project "Micro-needle Technologies – The Future of Diagnostics".

Lecture Topics

Lectures for graduate and postgraduate students as well as the staff of the Perm State National Research University, which are to be held on 18 – 25 May 2012, include the following topics:

  • Introduction to the delivery process of chemicals into the body
  • Delivery of chemicals in the skin and mucous membranes of the human body
  • Delivery of chemicals in the internal structure of the eyeball
  • Delivery of chemicals in the body using micro-needles

The Federal Center is represented in the international project by Professor Marina A. Zemlyanova, PhD, DSc, Head of Department of Biochemical and Cytogenetic Diagnostics, and Vasily N. Zvezdin, Researcher of Biochemical and Nanosensor Diagnostics Laboratory, Chairman of the Young Researchers Council.

The aim of this 3 to 4 year project is to develop a micro-needle technology for minimally invasive, safe, low-cost sampling of interstitial fluid in the diagnosis of diseases and monitoring of metabolic processes.
